A practice firm is a realistic simulation of a business with all of its administrative functions. The commerical transactions, which are carried out with the other 3,000 similar practice firms around the world, allow these firms to perfectly recreate all of the facets of local and international business. As a matter of fact, everything resembles reality except the actual production and exchange of money, which remain fictitious. The Clientele The personnel of the firm is made up of job seekers who, by their participation in the work setting, have an opportunity to update their knowledge, gain practical job experience and lead an active job search. At the same time, they benefit from the professional support provided by various resource people. Participants are principally: - Unemployed people who are already trained or who have professional experience and require an updating of their skills;
- Young people who wish to experience a real job to ease the transition from school to the job market;
- Persons with Disabilities for whom an individual approach allows them to learn at their own pace in a stimulating, supportive and where required, "accommodating" environment
The Coalition and the Practice Firm The Practice Firm operated by the Coalition for Persons with Disabilities provides an opportunity for participants to get the "experience" that disability-related barriers have either prevented them from obtaining, or address the redefinition of skills and experience resulting from an acquired disability or disabilities. The Practice Firm 4 PWD's goal is to promote the full and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities in today's labour market. We are committed to providing client-centred services, which assist persons with disabilities in creating individual back-to-work action plans and strategies to find suitable employment.
